 Not all Terraced, Semi Detached, Detached houses are equal

There are many factors that determine the final price of a loft conversion: The amount of space and materials used, the complexity of the build and the specification of the fittings. All have an impact upon the cost. The prices below will serve as a guide to what you might expect to pay for one of our loft conversions.

The difference in price between Terraced, Semi Detached and Detached houses is a simple reflection of the increase in size. Larger houses require more materials, timber, steel, plasterboard, electrical fittings and labour. Even within these categories there can be a huge variation. A large Victorian terraced villa can have more floorspace than a modern detached house 

Standard Dorma Conversion Terraced House
£18,000 – £23,000.  This is what you would expect to pay for a straightforward conversion in a terraced house.
Standard Dormer Conversion Semi Detached House
£20,000 – £25,000 This is what you would expect to pay for a straightforward conversion in a semi detached house. The increase in price over a terraced house is a reflection of the additional labour and materials used for a larger property.
Standard Dormer Conversion on a Detached House
£22,000 – £27,000 This what you would expect to pay for a straightforward dormer conversion on a detached house. The increase in price over a terraced house and semi detached house is a reflection of the additional labour and materials used for a larger property.
Velux Conversion Terraced House
£15,000 – £20,000 Velux conversions, where applicable, generally cost less because there is less labour and materials involved.
Velux Conversion Semi Detached House
£17,000 – £22,000 As with dormer conversions the size of the property will have an effect on the final price.
Velux Conversion Detached House
£20,000 – £25,000  As with dormer conversions the size of the property will have an effect on the final price.
These are the prices you would expect to pay for straight forward conversions. Built up gables, front cottage dormers, lowering of existing ceilings and non standard requirements will cost more, although we always make sure you know what is involved right from start.
